Windows Nightly Binaries

After weeks of tweaks it seems that Windows binaries for both upcoming releases, 2.1.3 and 2.5 of the Plone CMS are ready. These binaries are built from SVN each night; so as bugs get fixed in SVN they will be available in the next build cycle.

Windows nightly builds are found at http://www.enfoldsystems.com/downloads.html

Tip of the Hat to Sidnei da Silva who had the initiative to extend the build system and work with Hanno Schlichting and Rocky Burt to identify problems and get the builds working.  As of today I've seen some people who are having problems with the installers.  If you a Plone developer and interested in the Windows story -- please monitor the plone-setup mailing list!  If you see a problem, please fix it - and notify the user that new builds should have the bug fixed!

Plone 2.1.3 binaries now ship with Zope 2.8.7 and Python 2.3.5.  The Plone bundle's are managed by the release manager, in this case, Stefan Holek.  So we should be able to see a new round of software that makes Plone 2.1.3 even better.  Including a newer version of Kupu!  Thanks to Duncan Booth and Oxfam UK.

Plone 2.5 binaries are available in two flavors, Zope 2.8.7/Python 2.3.5 and Zope 2.9.3/Python 2.4.3!  These binaries also include libxml2 and lxml which means FAST, EFFICIENT, AMAZING XML functionality ships with Plone! Xpath, Xquery, Xslt, etc. etc.  This is great news for XML blow^H^H^H^Hdiehards. Alec Mitchell is the release manager for Plone 2.5.  There is a rumor a release candidate or another beta will be out this week.  Only the Alec knows.

The Windows nightly builds are hosted by Enfold Systems.
