Call for volunteers

Have you ever wanted to help Plone, but don't have the necessary code skills? Here's your chance to make a difference where it matters.

The Plone Foundation would like to announce that the following positions are available as volunteer positions:

Postmaster (mailing list handling)

The Plone mailing lists is an important part of the Plone community backbone — and should be managed properly. Currently this responsibility rests with some of the core Plone developers, which is clearly sub-optimal.

Desired skills: Reliability and responsibility, and enough knowledge about the different aspects of Plone to make the calls on whether postings are inappropriate.

Contact: Send a mail to the Website List to volunteer.

Permission Master

Taking care of the access permissions in the Plone, Archetypes and and Collective SVN repositories as well as granting special privileges on plone.org when needed is an important job that requires very little technical skill — but does require a high level of responsibility and follow-through ability.

Desired skills: Reliability and responsibility.

Contact: Send a mail to the Website List to volunteer.

Products Mercenary

The plone.org products area currently contains over 300 products, but we want even more. Especially components that are useful in from the Zope part of the stack are very often not listed here. We want to change that, and we also want to assist people in getting their software listed. In practice, this means identifying important products that should be listed, and contacting their maintainers and asking if they want to be listed — and if they want to maintain the entry themselves or not.

Desired skills: Knowledge of the Plone and Zope product spaces.

Contact: Send a mail to the Website List to volunteer.

Documentation Reviewers and writers

The documentation on plone.org is a fast-growing and important part of the Plone universe. Currently, we need more documentation reviewers and writers.

Desired skills: Good English writing skills, and enough knowledge about the different aspects of Plone to make the calls on whether a piece of documentation is appropriate or not.

Contact: Send a mail to the Documentation List to volunteer.

Webmaster, plone.org

The webmaster of plone.org mainly deals with people that have forgotten their password or have other specific questions that are not handled by the website team. This is an important, but pretty low-volume mailing address to handle.

Desired skills: Ability to reliably handle and delegate issues.

Contact: Send a mail to the Website List to volunteer.
