Turning Silver into Gold
Good governance, transparent funding. It's not just the software that's open

Gold Seal of Transparency 2026 for Plone

Published date: April 27, 2026

Shortly after receiving the Silver Seal, the Plone Foundation was awarded the Gold Seal of Transparency for 2026 by Candid, even further testament to our open governance, accountability, and trustworthiness as a nonprofit.

After additional criteria were met, Candid upgraded the Plone Foundation's Seal.

Plone is technically excellent, and also ethically and structurally strong

Gold Seal of Transparency means Plone is not only technically excellent, it is also ethically and structurally strong, which, in open source, matters just as much as the code.

Thank you to the Plone Foundation Board, interim Treasurer Steven Piercy, Alexander Pilz and everyone involved for getting us there.

Plone is Open.

Candid (formerly GuideStar) awards the Gold Seal of Transparency only to nonprofit organizations that openly share how they operate—what they do, who they serve, and how they manage their resources. To earn it, an organization must publicly provide:

  • Verified organizational details (name, tax ID, address)

  • Clear program information and measurable outcomes

  • Grantmaker status, if applicable

  • Up-to-date branding and public presence

  • Detailed financial and leadership information

This recognition reaffirms Plone's ongoing commitment to openness, professionalism, and trust with the community that depends on us.
