Plone Foundation Board Minutes August 20, 2026
Call to Order
- Meeting started at 18:02 UTC
Attendance
- Present: Rafahela Bazzanella, Gildardo Bautista Garcia Cano, Brian Davis, João Henrique Gouveia, Rikupekka Oksanen, and Martin Peeters
- Excused: Eric Brehault and Steve Piercy (interim treasurer)
Approval of the minutes
- August 6, 2026: Brian motions to approve. Martin seconds. All approve. Gouveia abstains.
Action items
- News item for new members
- Brian: Emailed 5 new members to review bio/photo. Waiting for a reply.
- Rikupekka: Why can't we use what they submitted?
- Brian: The content of the form submissions vary. Some post multiple page resumes, some post bullet points, some post paragraphs. And we still have to obtain a photo.
- Rikupekka: What if we were to improve the application to include a summary field and photo?
- Brian: Great idea. Right now it's just one field "Describe your contributions to the Plone community". I'd suggest keeping that to get the full overview. And specifically ask in the new field: "If you are approved for membership, your submission will be summarized for a news release. Can you give us a 3-4 sentence summary of your most important highlights?"

New Business
- The Board reviewed the Board Priorities document and provided updates on the progress of tasks and initiatives. The annual meeting is next month, so please begin to finalize your reports and add them to the document.
Continued Business
- Zope Team Github Administration: No update
- Security Team post:
- Martin/Rikupekka/Brian met to write the draft.
- Sent post to the security team for review.
- TKim updated plone.org team page members list during Steering Circle.
- Treasurer Search: Contacting candidates
- Ploneconf:
- Organizers were wondering how many tickets will sell in the last few weeks? They need a more accurate headcount to reserve catering.
- Board received an email about making future year's conferences more structured and repeatable.
- 2 years is a good suggestion, but might be difficult to obligate and recruit hosts
- If its a first time organizer, more things need to be accomplished earlier instead of last minute
- For a local team, incentives can help. Like a free ticket if you can be a room host.
- Having key people be there with a cool head. Just to remind people what we can do and how to proceed. Smooth it over with enough assertion to not go out of the frame.
- What are the minimal needs of a local team? Venues are used to event-planning and can recommend local logistics. Can we drop into a city with no local Plone team and have the logistics organized by the venue?
- plone.org renewal:
- collective.multiworkflow
- Updating content
- Still need developers
- Community recognition: Page is published, continuing to receive feedback
- Pastanaga.io
- Not sure we want it. Old theme. The issue only came up because of the failed certificate. Could it be deprecated? Martin will contact kitconcept.
- Brian: I only use it for https://pastanaga.io/icons/ reference. Here is another version of https://github.com/plone/volto/blob/main/packages/volto/src/icons/00%20-%20icons%20sheet.png but would like to see the alphabetical list included somewhere.
- Improve Board processes: Martin to have a team meeting tool ready by conference.
- Zope Funds: List of emails with names was generated
Review Ongoing
- None
Adjournment
- Gouveia motions. Rikupekka seconds. All in favor.
- Adjourned at 19:37 UTC
