How does clinical research, patient care, but also the development of new therapies and treatment protocols for cancer translate?

RedTurtle worked with IRCCS Istituto Romagnolo per lo Studio dei Tumori "Dino Amadori" - IRST to create the new website.

A project that goes beyond the simple online presence: the website has become the primary channel of transparency and scientific communication, an essential tool for patients, researchers, health professionals and institutional partners.

The objective

The challenge was to unify public communication and ensure that specific, ever-changing data is automatically synchronized.

The Institute manages a large volume of dynamic information related to research and clinical activity, fragmented across multiple systems and updated manually, with a high burden of verification.

The solution

The solution was built on the basis of io-Sanità(https://www.io-sanita.it/) based on the Plone CMS, exploiting its ability to integrate with external systems.

The project went beyond simple content migration to focus on the real-time connection between the public portal and internal management systems.

Vertical integration has covered four key data areas:

🔹 Clinical Trials: reorganization of information and improvement of navigability, to facilitate the orientation of patients and researchers between protocols, phases and managers
🔹 Calls and Tenders: publication of active calls directly from the administrative management system, reducing time and margins of error
🔹 Medical/Scientific (HR) Staff: synchronization of doctors, researchers and facility assignments, always consistent with internal data
🔹 Offices and Facilities: dynamic updating of contacts and roles, to support the orientation of patients and providers

Strategic and operational advantages:

✅ Operational efficiency: eliminate duplicate content management, so staff can focus on clinical and research tasks

A #SEO targeted work was also carried out to enhance the Institute's information assets, through keyword analysis, the definition of strategic clusters and content optimization, accompanied by a review of technical SEO and semantic markup.

To make the portal really close to people, #IRST has started a structured process of listening and discussion with professionals and patient groups, in support of continuous improvement based on real needs.

The result is a modern, secure and connected platform at the operational heart of IRST, supporting its mission of excellence in cancer research.
