Silver Seal of Transparency 2025 for Plone
Published date: January 30, 2026
The Plone Foundation is proud to announce that we have once again received the Silver Seal of Transparency from Candid (formerly GuideStar). Plone has always been known for secure, robust software. This award confirms something just as important: that our project is built on a foundation of openness, accountability, and trust.
Rock-solid continuity
Transparency isn't something you typically consider—until it becomes critical. Transparency protects you against technology risks:
- When you invest in a technology stack, you want assurance of long-term maintenance and security updates. Check.
- When you're building a custom solution, you want the flexibility to choose multiple supporting vendors, rather than being locked into a single provider. Check.
- When you use community-driven software like Plone, you want to know that the community is healthy and governed in ways that ensure long-term sustainability. Check.
Transparency gives you peace of mind. Plone is a reliable partner you can depend on.
Why this matters to you
When you choose a CMS, you're not just selecting software—you're choosing a long-term partner. This award demonstrates that Plone is open, honest, and well-managed.
For Leaders
You don’t have to wonder who’s behind Plone or how decisions are made. The Foundation’s goals, structure, and finances are visible and accountable—making Plone a safe, stable choice for your organization.
For Funders
You can see exactly where support goes and how it’s used. This seal confirms that the Plone Foundation is a responsible steward of its resources and takes accountability seriously.
For Everyone
It’s a signal of longevity. Transparent organizations survive change. They don’t vanish overnight. Plone is built—and governed—to last.
Open software, open governance
It's not just our software that's open. Our community, our finances, and our decision-making processes are open too.
Candid (formerly GuideStar) awards the Silver Seal of Transparency only to nonprofit organizations that openly share how they operate—what they do, who they serve, and how they manage their resources. To earn it, an organization must publicly provide:
Verified organizational details (name, tax ID, address)
Clear program information and measurable outcomes
Grantmaker status, if applicable
Up-to-date branding and public presence
This recognition reaffirms Plone's ongoing commitment to openness, professionalism, and trust with the community that depends on us.
