Responsibilities

The Board of Directors is responsible for the operation of the Plone Foundation, which in turn is charged with protecting and promoting Plone.

The Board appoints Plone Foundation committees, like the membership committee, and has the ultimate say on Plone Foundation membership. It directly governs Plone resources like plone.org and plone.com and it chooses the Release Manager and pays her or him a stipend. The Board often concerns itself with marketing, copyright, licensing, and trademark issues.

Neither the Board nor the Foundation directly govern Plone development, which is carried out by a highly motivated, world-wide team. However, the Plone Foundation has been taking an increasing role in encouraging Plone development by promoting strategic sprints.

The Foundation's efforts are made possible by the efforts of its membership and the money given by sponsors.
