Co-organizing PyCon DE 2013 is the Cologne Python User Group and the DLR Deutsches Zentrum für Luft und Raumfahr (German Aerospace Center).

PyCon DE 2014 will take place in Berlin, dates to be announced.

PyCon DE brings together Python developers at all skill levels for several days of tutorials, talks, sprints, code retreats and community building. Planning is now underway for the event’s third year.

“PyCon DE 2011 was the first big Python conference in Germany, Austria and Switzerland,” says Jan Ulrich Hasecke, a founding member of Python Software Verband e.V, which organized the 2012 conference.

“This year we exceeded all of 2011’s numbers—more visitors, more sponsors, more talks. We had 235 attendees total, and feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. But the biggest success is our growing and prospering community.”

PyCon DE 2012 included 12 pre-conference tutorials, a 1-day barcamp (Open Space-styled conference), two days of sprints, a 1-day code retreat and a session for research and higher education institutions using Python.
