Mike Metcalfe

long time Plone developer, non-profit volunteer
My name is Mike Metcalfe and I live and work in Cape Town, South Africa. I
I’m interested in serving on the Plone Board because the Plone community has meant so much to me over the years, providing not only my livelihood but also lasting friendships.
I began my career in IT in research at universities, later moved into the corporate world, and eventually started my own business. Since 2006, I’ve worked extensively with Plone across a variety of business sectors, including significant involvement in the open source Bika LIMS project. I have twice been a mentor for Google Summer of Code.
Outside of work, I teach Tai Chi four days a week, sing bass in a choir, and swim in the ocean most mornings. I’ve also served on committees for my choir and my son’s hockey club, gaining valuable experience in how boards and volunteer organizations operate.
As a longstanding Plone user and supporter, I would like to give back to the community by serving on the Plone Foundation Board.
