El Nuevo Diario uses Plone to cover Nicaraguan elections

El Nuevo Diario, a main newspaper in Nicaragua, selected Plone for its special site to cover the upcoming presidential elections in that country.

The site http://elecciones.elnuevodiario.com.ni/ was implemented using JuliusLite, a proof-of-concept product that modify some of the features of Plone to make the experience easier for journalists, and incorporates functionalities like navigation based in tags (using TagCloud) and externaly hosted multimedia files (using ATOdeoAudio and ATGoogleVideo).

Güegüe, the company that implemented the site, said they selected Plone because it was very friendly to the user and very powerful for the developer. Also, they were able to use the previous work made by La Jornada to cover the Mexican elections last July.

El Nuevo Diario is expecting about 20,000 visitors a day and they will be able to serve information to them using CacheFu and Squid.
