The mission of the non-profit organization Advancing Green Chemistry is to reduce or eliminate hazardous substances from the manufacture and use of chemical products. To that end, they are building collaborative connections between green chemists and environmental health scientists. The initiative includes a major conference, follow on meetings, information sharing, and policy development, all of which are aided by a members-only collaborative website. The site includes news aggregated from a variety of sources, discussion forums, areas for members to post relevant papers and bibliographies, primers and analyses of important papers in both fields, collaboratively developed policy statements, and member commenting and discussion on all content. Plone's collaborative features and add-on products for bibliographies, discussion forums, and news feeds made it possible to develop a highly customized and feature-rich site in a small amount of time.
