Plone Code Swarms Demonstrate Community Vitality

Three visualizations, or "code swarms," of commits to Plone repositories show long term growth in the Plone community of contributors.

"Code swarms" are visualizations of contributions to open source projects over time. Looking at a code swarm is an excellent way to gauge the freedom and growth of a software community.

Code swarm visualizations of Plone's three primary software repositories display the nicknames of contributors throughout the timelines of the software projects. Surrounding each emergent nickname are color-coded beacons representing the number of code "check-ins" for the contributor at each point in time. A color legend explains the type of files checked into the repository for each beacon.
