Summary

How I migrated 206,533[1] news stories from Bricolage to Plone. First some background: I discovered Plone in late 2003, and have been a full time independent Plone consultant since late 2004. In late 2006, I was hired by Radio Free Asia (a non profit in Washingtion, D.C. USA) to migrate their existing website content (http://www.rfa.org) from Bricolage to Plone. This was no small task, but armed with a bit of Python skill and a passion for Plone® I was largely successful[2], and I learned a great deal during the process. This is the story of that migration. In this case study, you will learn: - What migration techniques we chose and why. - What pitfalls we encountered. - How to make your content editors happy, and when to Just Say No™ to them. - What I would do differently next time. - And much, much more! A must-see for Plone Integrators. Footnotes: [1] At the time of this writing. [2] The new site is expected to launch sometime in the first quarter of 2008.
