Plone core development approaches

The Plone Content Management System has grown incredibly over the last years. It has evolved from a CMF skin into an enterprise content management system. With every release Plone has gained new features and seen technology changes, making the Plone world a rapidly changing environment. With Zope moving to becoming platform, deployments switching to eggs, user interfaces switching to new ajax paradigms and templating technology evolving the direction of Plone development needs to be reviewed regularly. Feature or time-based releases, developing features inside Plone core or developing them as third party products, eggs versus tar-based releases; there are many factors influencing the future of Plone. This panel will talk about the processes that govern Plone releases and how we can make sure that the needs of everyone using Plone, whether they be integrators, end-user or template designers, can be met.
