Contextual Corporation is a provider of content management systems consulting, integration, and custom development services, based in the Chicago area. We focus on Plone-based CMS solutions for our list of clients, which is made up of Fortune 500 companies, government agencies, NGOs, and professional associations, large and small.

Contextual provides content management consulting services ranging from assessment and evaluation of CMS tools and strategies for migrating and centralizing the content management process, to the actual implementation of CMS technologies.

Contextual is proud to be a promoter of Plone-based solutions, having worked with Plone since before the 1.0 release.  Since Plone provides so much functionality out-of-the-box, our engagements typically focus on integration with legacy relational databases and other enterprise systems, development of custom features and workflows, as well as site design.

Chicago History Museum (United States)
The Chicago History Museum chose Contextual Corporation and its partner SPR Inc. to help it relaunch its website on the Plone CMS platform 2006. Through 2009, Contextual has provided continued support, including Plone upgrades, integration with other sites and tools, and performance optimizations. This site launch was timed to coincide with the Museum's 150th anniversary reopening, rebranding (formerly the Chicago Historical Society) and with a blitz of advertising on radio, print, and the web (not to mention ads on the side of Greyhound buses all over Chicago.) - Developer Community Portal (United States)
Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, Cleversafe is an open source-minded tech start-up that builds Dispersed Storage (extremely secure and fast storage cloud) appliances and solutions, based upon open source software and community. Contextual has implemented the Plone-based website for Cleversafe to provide to its 2,000+ strong software developer community that improves its Dispersed Storage software functionality. The community site at provides interactive Web 2.0 functionality essential to a community site, such as forums, weblogs, and RSS feeds, and integrates with other existing enterprise applications.
Colorado Alliance for Environmental Education (United States)
The CAEE needed to improve its site appearance and usability, allow non-technical content managers to easily add and update site content, while also enable very flexible and customized search capabilities on its vast database of environmental programs, events, and organizations. Contextual provide site design, database integration, and custom development expertise to make this site a reality on a very lean budget.
National Committee on North Korea (United States)
The NCNK is a group within Mercy Corps International that advances, promotes and facilitates engagement between citizens of the United States and the Democratic People's Republic of Korea. It works to reduce tensions and promote peace on the Korean Peninsula and improve the well being of the citizens of the DPRK. The NCNK required a custom content model be implemented to help it self-manage the wealth of publications, news releases and other resources related to NCNK activities and discussions, as well as custom search functionality to help visitors find this information. In addition, the member directory and profiles on the site are highly customized, as is the simple site skin.
