The city of Newport News, Virginia launched its new website in April 2007. The local government website is powered by Plone. It was redesigned to offer a citizen centric format that provides a more consistent and user friendly experience for website visitors. The city-wide adoption of the Plone content management system by department personnel provides better management of City resources because the Information Technology staff can now concentrate on adding new e-government services for Newport News citizens rather than maintaining content on hundreds of department web pages.
