Webonobo, located in Asheville, North Carolina, USA, has been creating websites since 1996. We began using Plone in 2006 for a wide variety of clients in the nonprofit, retail, hospitality, professional, government and art sectors. We specialize in custom designs that reflect the unique personality and business objectives of each client. We are also available to the Plone community for custom design and theme creation services.
Deployed Sites
- 28th Judicial District Bar (United States)
- A custom membership directory, built in Plone, is great for large associations like the 28th Judicial District Bar. Each member can keep their own profile up to date which cuts down on administrative time for managing a roster of 600 attorneys. Using Plone's fine-grained settings for roles and permissions, the public can now search and review attorney profiles based on areas of expertise or language fluency. The site also provides news, events and meeting minutes for members and helpful links in the Public Information Center. The home page highlights some interesting historical images in addition to a Historical Photo slideshow on the site.
- All Souls Cathedral (United States)
- All Souls Cathedral wanted a Plone website so they could keep up with their very active church schedule. News, Events and Recurring Worship Services are shown on the home page with CalendarX used to list all events. The historical handmade kneelers became the design theme for the site.
- American Quality Foods (United States)
- American Quality Foods is a manufacturer of specialty dessert mixes. Their product catalog was created with a custom content type and page template so they can easily update it themselves.
- Annie Miracle (United States)
- Can you imagine being born into a family of Miracles? Annie Miracle has had a charmed life and she has the skills to tell you about it in words. Through her own growth as a writer she has developed a process called 'Writing Naked' which gives credence to each person's path into themselves where their naked truth awaits expression. Starting with her powerful logo designed by Ginger Graziano, Annie's site boldly starts with her class schedule on the first page. That's what websites are about ... to answer the question we all have ... "what's in it for me?" Later in the site she shows pictures of her classes with testimonials from students and shares with you her personal story, spiritual pilgrimage and her Musings which are short compositions covering a wide range of topics. This site persuasively encourages writers of all experience levels to sign up for classes, workshops and personal coaching sessions with Annie.
- Appalachian Landscapes (United States)
- This Plone site provides the busy owners a quick way to add recent jobs to the home page spotlight and to update the photo galleries for each of their service areas.
- Appalachian Seeds (United States)
- This Plone website is a retail and educational outreach tool for Appalachian Seeds to tell their story, sell plants and seeds, announce workshops and share their enthusiasm for sustainable living practices. Extensive photo galleries help tell the story of living on the farm and stimulate interest in the minor breed animals.
- Appalachian Women Entrepreneurs (United States)
- Appalachian Women Entrepreneurs, a program of HandMade in America, is a great example of the creative community-based economic development efforts that HandMade has been involved in since the 1990's. Betty Hurst is heading up this program that provides a network of support to women starting businesses in rural areas of western North Carolina. Each entrepreneur will have a page on the site that describes their business and displays three representative photos along with contact information. In addition to website exposure, the women benefit from monthly meetings and educational opportunities that help them overcome the obstacles to entrepreneurship often encountered in rural areas.
- Asheville Architect (United States)
- Pulling together a website is a very satisfying experience for both our clients and us. Like many people, Steve Farrell had a first generation website that had become dormant. When a portfolio of work has not had a proper venue for display it can be very affirming to put it all in one place and take a good look at it! Now with his Plone website, Steve has a professional portfolio that he can add projects to as they are completed and he will never again be without a professional presentation of his fine architectural work.
- Asheville Swiss Chalets (United States)
- Did you know there’s a hidden Swiss treasure in Asheville? I didn't know until Judy Glicken, owner of the Well Bred Bakery in Weaverville, took me to see the charming Swiss chalet-style homes that she turned into vacation rentals! We recently transitioned her aging html site into Plone which gives her the ability to add new photos and special offers on the spur of the moment. Each chalet is presented in a tabbed format that allows the viewers to quickly click through the description, amenities, rates, availability and photos with most of the content appearing above the fold. This strategy invites vacationers to quickly and easily choose a chalet and book their "country living in the city" experience!
- B.B. Barns (United States)
- A beautiful site to whet the interests of local gardeners. This Plone site uses flash to set the visual stage and then directs viewers to the two sections of the site-the garden center and the landscaping division. Plone FormGen is an easy to use solution for their Saturday seminar series that confirms seat reservations by email.
- Bernie Rowell (United States)
- Bernie Rowell is a successful textile artist creating a unique style of painted art quilts. She recently upgraded the html site I created for her in 2002 to a Plone content managment site so that she can keep her online portfolio up to date. Her clients are located throughout the U.S. and abroad which makes a current site even more advantageous when communicating with collectors and gallery owners. Melissa Stanz, writer and public relations coordinator, has provided keyword rich copy in addition to placing articles that will draw traffic to the new site. Prints of Bernie's work are available for sale on the site or you can commission her for a site-specific piece of art as seen in the commissions section. Be sure to check out my favorites...the Envelope Series!
- BlackBird Frame and Art (United States)
- This retail frame shop uses their Plone site to educate their customers as well as promote local artists.
- Bridges Coaching (United States)
- Mindy Stern is a certified life coach in Durango, Colorado. Her business name and logo reflect the role she plays in providing a bridge for her clients to reach their goals through their work with her. Her enthusiasm and joy of living are exemplified by the image she chose for her front page. I could tell from early communications with Mindy that she loves using text of different colors to emphasize her ideas so we built in several additional text styles to her website's style sheets. Settling on a site design is not always a streamlined process but it is an educational experience for all of us and working with a professional like Mindy assures that the effort will be worth the final results. This site evolved slowly but like a fine wine, it gained character as it developed into the lovely communication and marketing tool that it is.
- Carolina Dining Services (United States)
- Anyone who has been a student on a large college campus knows that one of the most important support systems for your education is....food! Carolina Dining Services manages 13 dining locations on the extensive UNC Chapel Hill campus. Working with Marketing Coordinator, RJ LaPorte, and graphic designer Dick Hill, we created a Plone site to help the students find the nearest dining location with a google map, food descriptions, photos and hours. The site also provides information about meal plans, nutrition, the sustainability program, news and events and helpful information for parents. For a fast-moving, complex operation like this, investing in an easy-to-use, smart website is a great business decision.
- Cheri Britton (United States)
- This is Cheri Britton's third Plone site! The goals of the site are to promote Cheri as a speaker as well as to sell her new book, "BOOM Thinking, The Gutsy Guide to Breaking Out of Old Mindsets". A flash series of accolades about the book from other professionals helps open the home page. The inside pages give you information on BOOM Thinking, Speaking, Coaching, an interview Video, Press Kit, Freebies and more. Reading any page on this site gives you a dose of the inspirational power of Cheri's message and the feeling that you want more of what she's got!
- ClarityWorks Online (United States)
- Peggy Millin's ClarityWorksOnline has steadily grown over the years in rich content, images and professional offerings for writers. Her new Plone site has given her immediate access to the website for the frequent changes that her busy calendar requires. Her site also benefits from the Plone Photo Gallery so she can post photos of her writing retreats quickly and easily. Since the target market is women, I cropped the photos I took into circles reflecting the logo and enhancing the softness of the site ambiance. The effect is warm, cozy, safe, inviting, inclusive and personal which perfectly represents what ClarityWorks offers to women writers.
- Council on Aging (United States)
- The Council on Aging of Buncombe County, North Carolina is an active agency providing services to older adults and their caregivers. Their new Plone site provides a focal point of information for both their recipients and their service providers.

The theatre's new Plone website gives them control over listing programs and event details that need to be updated often, and an easy to use calendar for inputing both Mainstage and rental events throughout the year. The sophisticated calendar functionality was programmed for us by Mikko Ohtamaa, of Red Innovation, a Plone Developer in Finland. The theatre's Marketing Director, Elly Wells, says that Plone is fun to use and that the site reflects the dynamism of their changing season of events.
- Doug Silsbee (United States)
- Doug Silsbee is the consummate planner. He spent two years planning his new website and the results show the value of focused intention and attention to messaging. His two target markets are business coaching clients and professional coaches who desire mentoring to deepen their skills. The site is smoothly segmented to address the specific needs of each target audience with visual cues in the photographs and colors of the parchment backgrounds. The layout of the site breaks out of the header/sidebar mentality and, utilizing the nautilus of the logo design, creates an engaging presentation of ideas, inspirational quotes, testimonials and pull quotes from articles. Although word-rich, this site has balance, structure and rhythm which makes reading it a pleasure.
- FENCE (United States)
- The Foothills Equestrian Nature Center in Tryon, North Carolina has three main program areas plus General Information. Dividing the site into programs allows each to have its own calendar and news while using the general calendar to list all events. The volunteer staff enjoys the intuitive Plone interface and the public appreciates the quick navigation to their specific area of interest.
- Glazer Architecture (United States)

- Healthy Brain for Life (United States)
- Dr. Philippa Norman is in the exciting field of brain nutrition. She speaks on issues such as hyperactivity in children and how to prevent Alzheimer's disease. Her website is an educational bonanza of articles on the structure of the brain, healthy brain aging, and brain nutrition. We were working long distance but that didn't squelch the communication between us. When creating the design for this site, I chose a picture of a neuron for the header. Dr. Norman enthusiastically responded, "I Love Neurons!" when she saw the design.
- Healthy Haywood (United States)
- We are seeing more and more government and municipality use of the internet to both initiate contact and maintain relationships with community members online. Healthy Haywood, a program of the Haywood County Health Department, focuses on improving the health of the community. We worked with Steffie Duginske to develop this site that enables her to manage much of this program online, providing information, resources and status reports on the different action teams. Learn about their community collaborations, news, events, sponsorships and annual fitness challenge. See photos of their projects and pick up a health tip each month. This site makes it easy to be part of the community.
- Helios Warriors (United States)
- This small nonprofit is doing very big work with our honored war veterans. Executive Director, Gayle Sovinee, has created a health care program using complementary and alternative therapies to address the physical, emotional and spiritual needs of men and women veterans. These services are available on very discounted rates and no one is turned away. This Plone site enables Gayle and the other practitioners to introduce their services and promote their mission.
- Helpmate (United States)
- I admire the work that Helpmate does for our community. As a domestic violence agency, the day to day work requires a wise balance of compassion and implementation of practical solutions to very emotional situations. The dedicated staff, led by Executive Director Valerie Collins, maintains a full range of support including a 24 hour crisis line, temporary shelter, counseling, court advocacy, education and outreach. They coordinate their efforts with other non-profits in our area to provide the most cost effective solutions with the best possible results for each individual's needs. Winn and I are pleased to be able to offer this site as our 2008 nonprofit pro bono gift to the community.
- Hendersonville Historic Preservation Commission (United States)
- What a perfect site for Plone! There are almost 600 historic homes and structures in Hendersonville, NC, that are now described online and available to historians, home owners, real estate agents and anyone interested in historic properties. The complex structure of the site is accomplished with multiple navigation bars that enable the viewer to browse by district, street and individual addresses. In addition, the Plone search function makes it easy to do a site wide search for styles of homes such as 'bungalow' or 'colonial'. The Certificate of Appropriateness section provides homeowners with guidelines for restoring their historic homes and the convenience of downloadable pdf forms. LuAnn Welter of the Historic Preservation Commission was able to pull together all of the home descriptions and is grateful that they are now all in one place, in a searchable format and that now she can begin adding photos of each of the historic homes to the website. Trent Hyatt of the City Planning Department provided the clear, easy to read district maps. A brief look at Hendersonville's past gives the viewer the historical context in which to view the properties. The next phase of this dynamic site is to create clickable maps of each district with pop up photos of each property.
- High Country Consulting (United States)
- This gorgeous site is the result of the creativity of Cathy Davis and her professional photographer husband Terry Davis. High Country Consulting is a landscape design firm specializing in steep slope, micro-climate environments that are found in western North Carolina. The photograph that opens their portfolio section is a lush green scene with stone walkway, stream and waterfall. It is amazing to think that Cathy created that scene from a rocky rolling hillside. Working with men and machines, this petite designer has a way with big rocks that make them look like they were creatively placed by mother nature herself eons ago. Their Plone website will allow Cathy and Terry to continue building the portfolio of beautiful residential and commercial landscapes.
- Highland Farms Retirement Community (United States)
- Highland Farms is a comfortable, well-established retirement community in Black Mountain, NC. The goals of the website redesign were to improve their online image, give a sense of place to the viewer and emphasize the quality of life that you can expect to enjoy there. It was great to have professional photos to work with on this site. I find that real photos (as opposed to stock photos or illustrations) with real people, of the real place, are the most compelling and most credibility-building ways to present yourself online. The result is an authentic website that reflects their values and encourages the visitor to visit for a tour.

As a seasoned hiker, she promotes being properly equipped and provides a checklist for both day hikers and backpackers. Singer, songwriter and activist all of her life, the more I get to know Peggy, the more amazed and impressed I am with her musical heritage and prolific songmaking. This extensive Plone site includes history, press photos, itinerary, reviews, discography, and a listen and buy section. There are sub-sites for her mother, avant-garde composer Ruth Crawford Seeger, and Peggy's deceased life partner, Ewan MacColl, with whom she revived the ballad and traditional song movement in England for over 30 years. - The Celtic Muse (Ireland)
- Our first international Plone site! Maggie Butler is a creativity coach in Ireland. She was referred to us by Corrie Woods, a client here in the States. It was a great experience to work with Maggie who went through an interesting business transformation during the process. Others have referred to working with us as business therapy because of the deep questioning that goes into the site development. In Maggie's case, she transitioned from her previous site using her name as her domain to refining her business identity as The Celtic Muse. She located an artist who created her muse illustration and selected the font style for her name. She rewrote all of her website content from the muse perspective and set up her email MuseLetter. This very purposeful and focused approach has resulted in a website that is thoroughly, authentically and beautifully representative of the creativity that Maggie supports in her own coaching clients.
- The Healing Seed (United States)
- Laura Hope-Gill is a compelling writer, poet and performer. Her business concept of The Healing Seed - helping others find their voice through poetry - was illustrated by Asheville artist Alice Ogelsby for the logo. When Laura and I first met, I saw a video of her performing poetry at a WordFest Poetry Festival and realized that her power is in her spoken words. We discussed adding video to her site and of course Debra Roberts' name came up immediately as the perfect creative nursemaid for such a venture. And what an adventure! With Rick Aguar, the team created hours of wonderful video of Laura speaking from her depths of knowledge about alchemy, poetry and spiritual growth. The videos were then edited into 10 short segments which became the primary website content. This site is a great example of how professionally produced video can make your site come alive!

Michelle Keenan, director of Listener Support, was the midwife for the site redesign that allows staff members to update their sections of the site quickly and easily with a sophisticated workflow. We approached this project with an Agile/Scrum attitude which is a style of working that facilitates the smooth production of a complex website. Future sprints will focus on user-friendly streaming solutions and banner management for the underwriting staff.

The interactive accordion portlet in the middle of the page succinctly presents the five step action plan for organizational development with supporting advice forum, news and events in one quick-to-view-and-use layout. The WNC Consultant Directory, created in phase two in collaboration with Plone programmer Mikko Ohtamaa of Finland, continues to grow as a resource both for nonprofits who are searching for consultants with specific expertise and for consultants who can become members of the directory by logging in and creating their profiles.
