Southern Regional Extension Forestry (SREF)
Note: I realize that some of our older Plone sites are not quite up to snuff and we are working on them to make them standards complaint and also to make sure we acknowledge Plone as the engine behind the scences.
Deployed Sites
- Carbon Trading: A Primer for Forest Landowners (United States)
- A website containing background information about Carbon Sequestration.
- Caring for Deer & Forests: A Resource Center for Eastern North America (United States)
- Deer, forests, and people are connected. Forests provide food, cover, and clean water that deer need. Forests growing on nutrient-rich soils with many food plants can support many more deer than forests with poor soils and few forest floor plants. That is, they have a higher carrying capacity. Deer add grace and beauty to the forest. What they eat affects how forests grow, how many deer they can support, and habitat for other wildlife. Hunters seek deer for meat and for the love of the hunt as they have for hundreds of years. Peoples’ understanding and choices about deer and forests shape all these connections.
- Eastern Forest Threats Center (United States)
- The health of our Nation’s trees and forests is under constant threat by a variety of issues such as insects and disease, wildland loss, invasive species, uncharacteristic fire and climate change. The Eastern Forest Environmental Threat Assessment Center provides the latest research and expertise on these topics to assist landowners, managers and scientists detect and predict future threats to their land. This integrated approach is the first of its kind and will result in the development of new technology and tools to rapidly improve knowledge of multiple forest threats.
- Reforestation, Nurseries & Genetics Resources (RNGR) (United States)
- The RNGR website contains a large repository of PDFs in the areas of reforestation, nurseries and genetics.
- The Forest Encyclopedia (United States)

The Network is designed to connect scientific results, conclusions, and impacts with management needs and issues.
