Deployed Sites

Albuquerque Public Schools (United States)
On a tight budget and tired of vendor lock-in, APS needed a robust and secure content management system. They chose Plone based upon reports of its success at the City of Albuquerque. They selected FosterMilo to architect the system, craft a budget, write an RFP, build a web team, and design the Plone site. The site build-out was completed by Joel Burton. The new website launched in January 2010 with immediate success and positive feedback in the local press.
Bioneers (United States)
Bioneers chose FosterMilo Web Architects to move them from Drupal into Plone as a more robust, industrial-strength CMS. The previous site was cluttered and unfocused in part due to the flat content structure used by Drupal. Nobody knew who had published what and where on the site. This made it difficult for the Bioneers to provide clear answers to visitors' most important questions -- who exactly are the Bioneers and what do they do? Plone offered sophisticated workflow and a folderish content structure that facilitates more organized management of content across many different publishers.
City of Albuquerque, New Mexico (United States)
The City of Albuquerque is the first major city in New Mexico to adopt an open source web system. The site is the largest government website in the state, visited by hundreds of thousands of citizens every month. The City chose Plone for its scalability, staging, and workflow functionality, which is currently being implemented throughout the site. FosterMilo proprietors were part of the original implementation team and continue to train content publishers at the City on web publishing with Plone.
City of Raton, New Mexico (United States)
Civic leaders in Raton worked with FosterMilo to creating an open source website with community building features. Built to provide transparency and community for the City of Raton in Northern New Mexico, FosterMilo used the Plone content management system to launche a truly citizen-focused website. What makes this site so special? Civic leaders in Raton were dedicated to creating a citizen-focused website. To meet their needs, we used card-sorting usability studies, created Plone custom content types, and implemented community-building tools using an integration with Flickr.
Dreaming New Mexico (United States)
Built for the Bioneers, this web campaign aims to convey the stories of grassroots activists in New Mexico, highlight the vision of what's possible in New Mexico, and build a unique "geo-narrative" using the Google Earth API. DreamingNewMexico.org was unveiled at the annual Bioneers conference in San Rafael, CA.
Popejoy Hall (United States)
Requiring a complex events system and folder-level workflow, Popejoy Hall (part of the University of New Mexico) asked FosterMilo Web Architects to help. Crafted to support both automation and flexibility, FosterMilo used the Plone content management system and its Calendar X product for the new Popejoy Presents website. The project required significant customization and development to meet the specific needs of the University of New Mexico's premiere performance space.
QMC (United States)
A steel certification company based in Chicago needed a user-focused site that accomplished two goals: clarify the process of certification & improve brand relevancy. FosterMilo conducted usability analysis and click analysis in order to determine user behavior. We then redesigned the site and implemented the Plone content management system. Post go-live, we ensured success by studying the resulting user behavior.
Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools (United States)
One of the United States' biggest new school complexes, the Robert F. Kennedy Community Schools in Los Angeles saved money by using Plone for its new website. FosterMilo crafted a lean but visually-pleasing site based on the free schools template by Quintagroup. We transformed the Quintagroup skin to suit the bright modern aesthetic of the schools' architecture. We also created a two-tier top navigation designed to highlight the individual schools that comprise the RFK complex. To further suit the individual schools' desire for unique identity, FosterMilo developed a sub-site design scheme that allows publishers to alter a banner image and color enhancements.
U.S. Department of Energy (United States)
To support web-based delivery of mission-critical documents called directives, FosterMilo built a document management system for the Department of Energy in collaboration with Doxcelerate Corporation. For the DOE, aesthetics were of secondary concern. Far more important was security, sophisticated search, versioning, and role management. FosterMilo developed new content types, advanced search, and notifications using the Plone content management system. At the request of the DOE, we skinned Plone to match their existing website.
Weatherly Area School District (United States)
One of the first Plone 4 sites launched in the United States, Weatherly aimed to implement a highly-customizable robust system on a small budget. They selected Plone and, after a nationwide search, contracted with FosterMilo Web Architects. The site is a basic Plone 4 install with customized design elements and a thoughtful information architecture based on the most common concerns and questions asked by parents throughout the district.
