To post to the Plone forums, you have to sign up first. We do this to avoid spam. Since Plone has traditionally used mailing lists over web forums, the sign-up process is a bit different than what you might be used to. Here's a quick guide on how to post to a forum that you haven't posted to earlier.

Before you start, make sure you have registered with Nabble. This is different from your plone.org account.

You will have to do this once for every forum you want to post to:

  1. Find the forum you want to post to — we'll use Plone General Questions list in this example.
  2. Click the link for mailing list options:
    Nabble mailing list options link
  3. On the mailing list options page, click the Subscribe button:
    Subscribe button
  4. Nabble will subscribe you to the mailing list, using the email address associated with your Nabble account. After a short while, you will receive a confirmation email from the mailing list:
    Confirmation email
  5. Confirm your subscription by either
    • replying to the confirmation email, or
    • clicking the confirmation link in the email message body
  6. You should now receive a welcome message from the mailing list.
  7. To avoid getting the messages from the forum in your email inbox, you should go to the forum in Nabble and click the Turn off mail delivery button:
    Turn off mail delivery button
    • Mail delivery can also be deactivated by following the link contained in the Mailing list subscription settings email that you'll receive from Nabble:
      Mail from Nabble

That's it - you're all set!
