Plone for Tourism
Built by Reflab with Tecnologie Avanzate, Tourpuglia helps people discovering the touristic, historical and cultural heritage of the Puglia region, offering a pleasant navigation between web content and multimedia elements.
As a part of an European project aiming to promote and support tourism in Puglia, it is an example of a Plone implementation for the tourism sector.
Features and Tools
The portal combines many custom contents, multilingual features, event management and multimedia integration in a clean and wide design, which improves readability and usability.
Sightseeing and Charming Spots: will lead the visitor through different navigation paths; the site IA was designed to allow users to browse the site by argument or by geographic location.
Environmental assets: a special content type was made to describe and present environmental and cultural treasures in a complete perspective. From each environmental asset content a full description is made available, plus photo and video galleries, handy audioguides, live webcams and other related elements. Beside, a dynamic map is shown, using google maps and GeoXML to show the asset location.
Where to eat, Where to sleep: easily find hotels and restaurants in the neiborghood.
Fotogallery: thanks to the integration with smooth gallery is possible to view image galleries with a fine overlay effect.
Audioguides: a special content types that allows to listen to audio files describing a town, building or tour, to dowload the file for using it on a portable mp3 player, to view or download a pdf brochure.
360 View, Videogallery, 3D: more multimedia integration to discover places and landmarks: from the traditional video presentation to the 3D visualizations and interactive clips.
Excursions: an archive of featured excursions, endorsed by the local associations and guides. To discover the region from perspective that are both unusual and true.
E-cards, Calendars: the interactive tools allows to choose from the most beautiful images in the site and send them as virtual postcards, or to create an hi-resolution, printable calendar on the fly.
GPS Points: it is possible to download tours as kml files, to be used on a GPS client and be easily guided in the land.
Map Portlet: Google Maps integration in a portlet with Collective Portlet Map.
Web Learning: allows to use the web to provide detailed touristic information, mostly aimed to tour operators, but also to well-informed travellers.
