Support options for Plone

by Alexander Limi last modified October 23, 2007 - 07:10

Plone has several mailing lists where you can ask questions, discuss Plone in general, and get useful tips on approaching specific problems you might have. We also have online chat rooms for live Plone support.

Commercial support

Plone is a free, open source product, and has hundreds of companies around the world supporting it. If you are looking for commercial support in your country, consult the list of Plone service providers at plone.net.

Volunteer-run support forums

The Plone community has a vibrant and active community, and you can get help with pretty much anything regarding Plone in the Plone support forums.

Please note that these forums are a web representation of our mailing lists, so the sign-up process is a bit different than a standard forum.

Please read the document How to ask for help and the Frequently Asked Questions before you use the forums/lists or ask the chat rooms for help. It contains helpful hints on how to compose your questions to get constructive answers. Please help us to help you effectively.

If you prefer reading the forums as mailing lists, the mailing lists overview is found here. These lists are the same as the forum links above, but if you prefer reading the lists with your mail client or news client, you can.

Live Chat

Online chat is a big part of Plone culture, and it is a good option if you have questions that need a bit of back-and-forth discussion to be resolved. You can find more information about the online chat rooms here.

Click here to immediately connect to the Plone chat room (requires Java support in your web browser)

Reporting bugs

If you find a bug in Plone itself (as opposed to an add-on product you downloaded), please file Plone bug reports here. Bug reports for individual add-on products should be filed with the authors of that product — contact details and/or bug trackers are usually provided on the product download page.

Training

If you want to get better at Plone, quickly, there's no better way than attending a Plone training course. People are doing Plone training all over the world, and upcoming training events are listed at the training page.

For any issues with the web site functionality, please file a ticket.

Please consult the policy on plone.org content if you want your content published on this site.
