Detailed feature description of the project.
Overview
An overview of the features.
- Separating movies from media
- A video medium (such as a DVD, VCD, data disc and video tape) can contain several movies. Similarly, you can have multiple copies of the same movie on different media. Videotheque treats movies and video media as different content types.
- Making the most of Plone's features
- The most important feature of Videotheque is that it tries to make the most of Plone's abilities. You can easily use Plone's sharing and workflow mechanisms for controlling access to parts of your video collection. You can use the categorization mechanism to attach tags to your movies and media and searches can easily be done through the Plone catalog.
- Hierarchical organization into sections
- The videotheque can be organized into sections and subsections. Sections can contain video media (such as DVDs, VCDs, data discs and videotapes) and each medium can contain movie copies. These sections can be built on any concept you like; for example, you can create a section to contain your DVDs and another for your data discs, or according to genres/countries etc.
- Retrieving movie information from the IMDB
- When adding a movie copy, the movie information (such as year, runtime, alternative titles for selected countries, plot keywords, plot summary and poster) can be retrieved through the IMDB. This feature is based on a custom widget based on the ATReferenceBrowserWidget.
- Internationalization
- Videotheque can support many different languages just like most other Plone projects. At the moment, only English and Turkish translations exist.
