SubSkins is the skin you should use if you dont know much about css but want to customize the look of your site so it doesnt look so "boring plone". Subskins is a skin for plone (made with small sites in mind) - or more correct, it is several skins which can be combined from a control panel. It requires PloneSubSkins (included in the bundle) which gives you a control panel to customize the skin. The idea is to be able to customize the skin without knowing much ... anything. The new colorschemes selection makes it also possible to change the colors easily from a control panel.

Release roadmap for SubSkins…

SubSkins SubSkinsBundle_3.1 (Beta release) Released Dec 14, 2007
All files should now be updated to plone3, except the top ones.
SubSkins SubSkinsbundle_3.0.1 (Beta release) Released Dec 12, 2007
New versions of all the skins in navigation and portlets
SubSkins SubSkinsBundle_3.0.0 (Beta release) Released Dec 12, 2007
This release works with plone 3.0.4. Most is still the same as last version. Will try to fix bugs etc. Things will get much easier due to the @@mange-viewlets in plone 3.
SubSkins 0.5 (Release candidate) Released Jul 12, 2007
Most of the features I have been planning are now finished. You might have to uninstall earlier versions to get it working (especially the control panel).
SubSkins 0.4_beta (Beta release) Released Jul 6, 2007
The functionallity is almost where I want it, focusing mostly on "the looks" from now on....
SubSkins 0.3.5 (Beta release) Released Jun 11, 2007
Cleaning up. Round Corners (round_corners and all css-files named family) are not working.
SubSkins 0.3 (Beta release) Released May 25, 2007
CSS Updates. The future looks bright. Not all choices looks "good" with eachother. Files that have almost the same names are probably supposed to be used with each other. (something like clean_white / Clean_text / Clean_portlets or Corporate_top/ Corporate_text / Corporate_portlets). SubSkins 0.4 will be here soon, fixing some bugs, IE issues and some more skins..... Please give feedback etc.
SubSkins 0.2 (Beta release) Released May 18, 2007
This release is a rather big step in structure. CSS code is moved to more "natural" places, and there are more selections. Unfortunately a few margins etc therefore are wrong. There is also changes in the PloneSubSkins product so you will have to upgrade that too.
SubSkins 0.1 (Beta release) Released May 7, 2007
This is the first version of SubSkins. It is also the first version of PloneSubSkins which can be used as a standalone product. SubSkins makes it possible to try a lot of different looks on your site. It is also easy to change only a section of the "look". Please send me your css to expand the product.

Project Description

Project resources

NB NB. There is no demo site available for the plone 3 version (which is much better than the 2.5 one) because I have no instance yet.......

The possibilities of this product are endless if I get help and it will probably evolve a lot in the future (maybe adding a selection for iconssets, (main)templates, previewing of selections, etc). Help is also needed for the different portlets-css (not high priority because many small sites doesnt have portlets).

Check out some screenshots here: http://xweb11.plana.dk:8092/subskins/screenshot

You might also take a look at the documentation which hopefylly will get better.......

Thanks to Eríc Brehault

for wrinting  PloneSubSkins which could be used as a standalone product.
