Currently we can't show two slideshows on the same page because the javascript uses a single css ID ("myShow") to insert the slideshow.

This is correct, but I see it as more of a missing feature than a bug. Since the slideshow view is part of a folder/collection, I'm not sure how/why one would need to show multiple slideshows on a page. Are you thinking of a portlet usecase? If so, we should probably treat this as a feature for 4.1, assuming that you/others want to work on the portlet feature.
