Right now, press room content types can only be added by managers. We should create appropriate permissions that would permit site admins to allow site members to add press clips and possibly press releases.

Motivation

Right now, Press Room only allows Managers to add content.  While this is fine for many sites, it's possible to imagine a community site where ordinary site members would need to be able to submit press clips and press releases.

It would be nice to ship Press Room with appropriate permissions so that it is easy for site administrators to enable this.

Proposal

The rough sketch of permissions should look like this:

  • PressRoom - addable only by managers (frequently only want 1 per site, also requires smart folders, which members can and shouldn't be able to create)
  • PressContact - addable only by managers (pretty obvious why)
  • PressClip - should be addable by members -- i.e. have them help you comb the web for relevant info about your organization.
  • PressRelease - debatable, but in a community site, this could be helpful

Any progress on this one? I just spent hours to find out why nobody but myself can add press clips until I found this page here. Would be extremely helpful to not require the Manager role for adding normal portal content.

I would swear I had it working, before changing plone instls and read where it was supposed to be fixed. Can't find either now.
We have just such a need. As a City Government site, we have numerous PIOs who are not authorized to release w/o oversight. So we need a creator level to create but not publish releases, and then have the reviewers/managers publish.
