What is the purpose of the "Press Release Date" field?

This FAQ applies to: Any version.

Does the "Press Release Date" field govern when the press release is shown?

Press releases include a field "Press Release Date."  This date is displayed at the top of the press release, and in listing views.  The Press Release Date field does not control whether or not a press release is displayed. 

Press releases are subject to the "effective" and "expiration" date fields, just like any normal Plone content object.
