It would be great if we could remove the "Issue Type" option as this is not needed in our context and is just one more box for our Staff to tick.
*Note: We are finding POI to be tremendously useful to us here at our school. Thank you to the developers!

Optionally removing the 'issue type' field does not look possible to me. But I can do the following: add a default method to the issue type field of an issue (and the area field too) and if there is only one option for that field, select that one automatically. That way we have at least saved a useless click. Okay, done in r80868.
With some custom css you might be able to hide the field entirely in your site.
I will look at hiding the fields in the response form when there is just one option.

Okay, my last remark was silly: there has never been an option to change the issue type and area of an issue when adding a response, so nothing needs to be done there.
