This is a small product to allow Plone to work with Tramline from Infrae. It monkey-patches some of the Archetypes FileField methods, but should be safe to install even if you are not using Tramline.

Current release

No stable release available yet.

Upcoming and alpha/beta/candidate releases

  • Alpha releases should only be used for testing and development.
  • Beta releases and Release Candidates are normally released for production testing, but should not be used on mission-critical sites.
  • Always install on a separate test server first, and make sure you have proper backups before installing.
PloneTramline 0.1 (Alpha release) Released Jan 10, 2006
Initial release. Alpha quality. This shows Plone working with Tramline, but there may be hidden gotchas in other setups.

Project Description

Project resources

Tramline from Infrae is an upload and download accelerator that plugs into Apache. Its aim is to make downloading and uploading large media to an application server easy and fast, without overloading the application server with large amounts of binary data.

This product contains a few patches to Plone to make tramline work with Plone.  You will still need to install and setup Apache, mod_python and Tramline as per their install instructions.  Once installed File objects uploaded to Plone (via apache proxying) will be handled by Tramline.

Beware this is alpha code.  It works for me, but it has not had very extensive testing yet. I'm putting it out there as soon as possible to get feedback on it as soon as possible and as a place for other intergration ideas for Tramline to be hung.
