plone.convertdaemon is a utility that provides transforms based on openoffice engine. It allows to convert from many office formats (opendocument and MS Office documents) to other office documents, html and pdf.

plone.convertdaemon is a binding of ConvertDaemon. It adds converters to plone.transforms.

ConvertDaemon is a separate daemon that allows to convert files outside of Zope. It can be used on an asynchronous process. It has it own queue. Input and output are streamed.

ConvertDaemon can currently convert Office files, audio and video.

 

What are the benefits of plone.convertdaemon ?

plone.convertdaemon aims to be easy to install and run. It is the first binding of openoffice.org engine for plone.transforms, the new transform mechanism.

It is very efficient and can make use of streaming and asynchronous processing.
