After having checked "Create content initially as neutral language" in portal_languages tool, newly created content is language neutral. If you then select translate into English (Default language) for an item, you cannot after that revert it back to language neutral.
According to the FAQ at http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Products.LinguaPlone/3.0 you should be able to switch back to language neutral in the "Manage translation" menu item in the "Translate into..." menu. However there is no such option, just options for other languages selected for the site.
According to the FAQ at http://pypi.python.org/pypi/Products.LinguaPlone/3.0 you should be able to switch back to language neutral in the "Manage translation" menu item in the "Translate into..." menu. However there is no such option, just options for other languages selected for the site.
- Steps to reproduce:
- See further down for versions.
Make new Plone site. Install LinguaPlone. Select English as default language and Swedish (or probably whatever) as another language. Check "Create content initially as neutral language" in portal_languages tool. Create folder. Select "Manage translation" menu item in the "Translate into..." menu.
Translate into English (it will say it is already done or somesuch). Now select "Manage translation" menu item in the "Translate into..." menu again. Only option is "Swedish", no way of going back to neutral.
LinguaPlone 3.0
* Plone 3.3.2
* CMF 2.1.2
* Zope (Zope 2.10.9-final, python 2.4.3, linux2)
* Python 2.4.3 (#1, Jul 27 2009, 17:57:39) [GCC 4.1.2 20080704 (Red Hat 4.1.2-44)]
* PIL 1.1.6

You can probably set the language of the item directly in the edit/metadata form. There is no support for this in LP as of today. Out of interest, what is the usecase?

Hi,>You can probably set the language of the item directly
>in the edit/metadata form.
Correct. I now found it in Edit->Categorization. Thanks!
Clarifying that in the FAQ at pypi should then be enough.
The use case is a directory of dance moves where it is more important that people can see all moves (albeit in the wrong language) than that they are properly translated. So when switching languages all moves should still be visible.

I changed the FAQ to match the UI options again. This will be visible on PyPi once 3.0.1 is released.
