Enfold Server is an open source version of Plone which is optimized for Windows networks. Enfold Server enables Plone in your enterprise by integrating easily with your existing infrastructure investment.

• Easily connect to your existing Active Directory database to manage user accounts and privileges.
• Streamline the user experience by eliminating extra login boxes with built-in support for Microsoft's single sign-on protocol.
• Choose from among several preset caching profiles to optimize performance with a proxy Web server.
• Use automatic cache purging to ensure visitors see the latest content. (requires Enfold Proxy)
• Save commonly used documents as file templates for faster creation of new content.
• Take advantage of the preinstalled Enfold Desktop  server component to give users access to the full Desktop feature set.
• MS Office and PDFs documents  added by users to the Plone web site can  become instantly searchable.  If MS Office is already installed on the server,   MS Office docs uploaded through Plone will be automatically indexed.  You can install an extension  to make PDFs searchable too.
• Clean up locked content and manage locking policies with the lock manager tool.
• Diagnose search issues with the IFilter test tool.
• Provides Zadoa ADO Database Adapter which lets you connect to SQL databases via ODBC or directly to an ADO source.

Integration with Enfold Proxy and Enfold Desktop 

The server product has been tested to work with Enfold Proxy, a proxying/caching manager for IIS and Enfold Desktop, a tool for uploading multiple items from Windows Explorer.
