Is a new version created when rolling back?

When a rollback occurs does the system creates a new version to store the current state of the content?

By default when a rollback occurs the current working copy is not saved, thus if someone has made modifications to the content since the last saved version after the rollback there modifications will be lost. The default covers the use case in which the author that wants to be sure to keep the changes saves a version. It is possible to "force" the creation of a version when a rollback occurs by enabling the "save a version on rollback" policy from the configuration panel.
