Adding Classifieds and categories to your site

Purpose

The purpose of this how to is to help end users adding Classifieds to a Plone Site.

Prerequisities

This how-to assumes you have your plone 3.x site was installed/set-up and that you have basic knowledge how to add content to a plone site.

Step by step

Step one: Add container

Add classifieds (container object) to your website by selecting 'Classifieds' in the add new item menu:

Step two: Name the container

After that, you need to name your 'Classifieds' instance/container. In this example we name it 'Classifieds':

Now we are ready to add categories. 

Step three: Add category

Click the 'Add Category' item in the 'Add new item' menu.

Step four: Name the category

We will add the category Books to our example:

Step five: Add subcategory

To specify several types of books we make a subcategory. A category in 'Classifieds' can contain a subcategory or a Classified.

Select 'Category' from the 'Add new item' menu:

Step six: name the subcategory

Name the (sub) category, we name it 'Programming':

Step seven: Add classified

Now the categories are setup! Let's add a classified to the Programming category, once again select 'Classifieds' in the 'Add new item' menu:

Step eight: Information

Give the classified a name and fillout the rest of the information:

Step nine: save the changes

Now we are ready! Click the save button to save your changes:

Step 10: View classifieds

Your first classified is added to the website, see it listed below!:
