Hi

I will paste the traceback separately, but briefly:

 * I have an impression that the _checks_ (for required binaries et cetera) could be, or should be, greater than they are at present.

Under http://plone.org/products/arofficetransforms/issues/6
on 7th December I recalled:

> The curious thing: when I previously experimented with
> AROfficeTransforms, possibly using 0.9.2 from SVN, I'm fairly sure

>  * PDF and Microsoft formats were _not_ previewed.

My experience now does echo that experience with a previous server.

Now:

 * ODF is transformed and previewed
 * PDF is transformed and previewed
 * Microsoft Excel .xls and PowerPoint .ppt are transormed and previewed

but

 * Microsoft Word .doc can not be added to Plone.

Workaround:

 * install wv binary, or uninstall AROfficeTransforms.

Please, continue with your fine work!

Thanks and best regards

Incidentally whilst I am filing this under

> Functionality POSIX

the version of Mac OS X Server that we currently use -- 10.4.11 -- may not be 100% POSIX compliant.

Re http://www.apple.com/macosx/technology/unix.html
Mac OS X 10.5 and beyond is the first Mac OS to gain true UNIX certification.
Steps to reproduce:
Install most prerequisites.

Omit wv.

Install AROfficeTransforms 0.9.2 to Plone 3.0.3.

Attempt to upload a Microsoft Word .doc document.

Expected (guessed):

 * ideally, upload should succeed

 * beyond upload, transformation may fail

Actual:

> MissingBinary: Unable to find binary "wvHtml" in /bin:/sbin:/usr/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/libexec:/System/Library/CoreServices:/opt/local/bin:/usr/local/bin

Hi

Please: within the product, in one of the files, can I (maybe) simply comment-out

#

lines that relate to attempted transformation of Word .doc files?

I will look myself, but if you can direct me to a relevant line it will be very helpful.

Many thanks

you can change config.py and remove the transforms you don't want.

At http://echelog.matzon.dk/logs/browse/macports/1197414000 I asked about glib2 (from what I gather, it's a problem with the glib2 port that is preventing installation of wv and the like).

Thierry, many thanks for your prompt response.

In the MacPorts area, following advice from expert jmpp, I have created a new ticket

'issue with glib2 @2.14.4_1 and/or glib-genmarshal - so, can not build/install dbus-glib, Gimp2, wv etc.'

I rynced from a working installation, then installed wv from source, so on my production server I do now have

msg4:~ centrimadmin$ which wvhtml
/usr/local/bin/wvhtml
msg4:~ centrimadmin$ wvhtml -v
1.2.4

For me personally this issue 7 is solved but as the symptoms (Microsoft Word .doc can not be added to Plone) may occur for another user of the product, you might prefer to leave the issue open.

Best regards
Graham
