Anti-spam measures in effect on all Plone mailing lists

by Sean Fulmer last modified December 18, 2006 - 22:04

Recent changes to the Plone mailing lists may require setup adjustments if you are posting via mail or Google Groups.

Due to the recent high volume of spam coming in on the mailing lists, we've been forced to reject all posts from non-members.

This shouldn't affect those who are currently subscribed to the lists. However, non-subscribers who wish to post to the lists via mail or Google Groups must subscribe to the lists using the email address associated with their account.

Subscription instructions can be found at http://plone.org/support.

If you don't wish to receive email from the mailing lists (if you are using Google Groups, for instance), you may turn off delivery while remaining subscribed to the list. To turn off mail delivery once you are subscribed, visit the list info page. For the plone-users list, this page is located at:

  1. Look towards the bottom of the list info page for the “Plone-Users Subscribers” section.
  2. Fill in your e-mail address at the field next to the “Unsubscribe or edit options” button and push the button. You will need to supply your list password after pushing the button.
  3. Now, look for the “Your Plone-Users Subscription Options” section of the options page.
  4. The first option is “Mail delivery.” Set this to disabled and submit the form.
You will now be able to post to the lists without having to receive mail to your account.

For any issues with the web site functionality, please file a ticket.
