9.45 - 10.30 Plone: a swiss army knife to build web portals and extranets

Plone is a CMS, it may be used to build web portals, news sites, extranets, groupware, e-commerce among others. This talk will introduce Plone 3 main features and tools showing how to use them for custom needs. It will also show case studies of Plone in education, organizations and businesses.

10.30 - 11.00 Introducing PloneGov

70 Belgian communes (French and Dutch speaking) and 10 French Mairies participate in the CommunesPlone project. Something similar is doing UdalPlone (Spain) and PloneGov.ch (Switzerland). Recently these projects joint to form PloneGov.org. In doing so, they aim to gain independence from IT services providers by developing, essentially by themselves and in a cooperative manner, applications and websites for their own use as well as for their citizens’. PloneGov strategy mainly rests on two renowned multiplatform Open Source tools: Zope and Plone

. In the talk, the main goals of the project and opportunities for local governments will be described.

PloneGov has been officially launched in Italy the 16th September.

In the case studies Stefano Saltannecchi, of the Studio Associato Ferrucci in Pisa will talk of his personal and professional experience with Plone used for Unione Giovani Ragionieri Commercialisti di Pisa build in 2005 (www.ugrcpisa.it), the document management intranet of the Studio and more.
