Ingeniweb : Plone 3 Developer Bootcamp

Ingeniweb is offering an accelerated, hands-on, 3-day Plone Development course. This bootcamp is designed for developers who want to get up to speed for using Plone 3 as a development platform. The course is organized and lead by Kamon AYEVA, INGENIWEB Training Team Leader (more than 5 years experienced Plone developer and trainer). Godefroid CHAPELLE will participate on tuesday, leading the KSS part of the training.

Day 1: Introduction to Plone 3 - Getting Started

  • Zope 3 concepts - Relation between Zope 3 and Zope 2
  • Quick overview of the Plone 3 Architecture
  • Setting up a Plone 3 development sandbox
  • Lunch Break
  • Getting started: Interfaces and adaptation
  • Using Views

Day 2: User Interface techniques

  • Introduction to Viewlets
  • Defining your own Portlets

  • Quick introduction to KSS architecture
  • Using a Kinetic Style Sheet
  • A server-side method
  • Debugging techniques

Day 3: Deeper with the application logic

  • More with Adapters
  • Using Utilities

  • Other interesting Zope 3/Plone 3 libraries (zope.formlib, etc...)

Prerequisites and other details

  • The intended audience: Developers & Integrators
  • Initiation to Python is mandatory: ability to understand and write Python functions, classes and modules.
  • It is recommended to have some knowledge of Plone development and integration practices and tools, including using XHTML/CSS/JS and Zope Page Templates.
  • Course Capacity: 12 people
  • Cost: 900 € + VAT
  • The training cost includes training material and tea/coffee breaks. Lunch is not taken in charge by Ingeniweb, but there are several nearby food options.
  • This session will be held in English, to allow more people from Europe to participate.
  • You can also contact us to discuss about planning a dedicated event in your city or for your company. (Travel expenses are not included in the event fee.)
