Rules for posting training announcements on plone.org

by plone.org Administrator last modified April 25, 2006 - 05:17

An overview of why, when and how community members should post training events on plone.org.

Why

Plone is an expanding open source software project. People around the world use the software and are very excited about its capabilities, but resources available for newcomers is incomplete.

With a simple set of guidelines that posted trainings should conform to, we can inform the community of the companies who provide on-site training.

  • Users will see that these trainings exist. They happen in a certain location under an instructor in possibly their town. They have the chance to "preview" a training seminar with lower expense than getting a consultant to come to their office.
  • Companies may feel uncomfortable bringing a consultant into their offices.
  • It can be cost prohibitive to get a consultant to come to a non-profit or small company to train one, or a small group of individuals.

The Plone community is growing and we believe that both nonprofit as well as commercial training should be advertised equally on plone.org. They are both time-sensitive and promise to promote and evangelize the Python, Zope and Plone technology stack.

Rules

  • Must promote Plone through the training. If training is not Plone-centric and does not promote Plone, you can not put it here. Your rights to submit future Trainings may be impaired if you fail to respect these rules.
  • If a training session is cancelled and you do not immediately remove your training, it will impair your right to submit future training events.
  • Trainings that are linked should have a Syllabus that shows what is going to be taught. This means that it should be easy/obvious that if someone clicks on the link that they can easily find a syllabus of the training scope.

This is a community website and we don't want a heavy regulatory process. It's simple. It's in good faith. If it's abused, we will discontinue the service.

How

  • Register / log in
  • Go to the Training announcement area
  • Add an Event type describing your training, with a link to the training overview
  • Click the the Properties tab → Keywords → select Training from the keyword list
  • Submit the item for publication
