Due to the COVID-19 epidemic PLOG 2020 is canceled

PLOG will return in 2021

We were unable to reschedule this event with the hotel in September. We hope that our registered 2020 attendees will be able to join us in 2021.

There will be a Remote Only Plone 6 Sprint the week that PLOG would have taken place. Please join us there!

Details about the canceled event follow - we hope to organize a very similar event next year.

Training Classes

At PLOG you can spend the mornings training and the afternoons sprinting. The following FREE training classes will be offered.

Volto -- Taught by Piero Nicolli, Giulia Ghisini and Nicola Zambello -- 2 Mornings

This class will be based on the Volto training given at the last Plone Conference. It assumes some knowledge of React; however if a majority of the attendees need an introduction to React and/or Volto, we can accommodate that. The exact syllabus will be decided collaboratively at the beginning of the sprint.

How to Get More Value From Your Plone Site Using GatsbyJS -- Taught by Asko Soukka -- 2 Mornings

This class will teach you how to deploy a static website from Plone content, and how to integrate it with the GatsbyJS ecosystem (plugins, themes, cloud services, etc.)

Plone Tips and Tricks -- Taught by Philip Bauer -- 1 Morning

This class will cover a number of advanced Plone developer topics, including:

  • Python Debugging Best Practices
  • Debugging ZODB Issues

Other topics may be requested by sprint attendees - for exampe Python 3 porting, advanced core Plone usage, or anything from the Mastering Plone class.

Sprint Focus

For some people, one of the best things about PLOG is having the flexibility to do their own project. For others, it is the opportunity to work together on community projects. Both modes of participation are welcome. There will be daily standups so everyone can share in what others are doing. Discussions on hot topics and informal "Ask the experts" sessions will be scheduled throughout the week.

Possible collaborative projects include:

  • Volto
  • RestAPI
  • Mosaic
  • Bringing Castle features into Plone
  • Creating "how to" screencasts of Plone features
  • Documentation improvements

Bring your ideas! We'll have a brainstorming session at the beginning of the sprint to decide on the final list.
