More Details on Vancouver Logistics

by Andrew Burkhalter last modified May 16, 2005 - 18:11

This page contains information about lodging in Vancouver, transportation to the sprint, and transportation within Vancouver.

Basic Sprint Info

If you're only looking for the basic info on this sprint you can find it at the following:

Vancouver Sprint 2005

Transportation Logistics

For those of you in the lower 48 and especially in the Pacific Northwest (i.e. WA, ID, OR), we are coordinating a possible carpool if enough folks have similar enough transportation timeframes. If you're interested in this please email the following to Andrew Burkhalter:

  • Where are you coming from and when are you leaving?
  • How long do you plan on spending in Vancouver?
  • Are you interested and willing to drive?

Other Transportation Options

If a carpool or caravan is logistically possible, there's always the train or the bus. Find information about mass transit times at the following:

  • Amtrak ($24-$37 one-way from Seattle, $42-52 one-way from Portland -- depending on whether you're taking an Amtrak bus or the train)
  • Greyhound ($28 one-way from Seattle, $39-$48 -- range for Portland depending on whether you order over 7-days in advance). It should also be noted that Greyhound has 1/2 price on the second ticket (http://www.greyhound.com/deals/companion_fare.shtml) so once people let me know their travel details I can suggest options for saving on the fare.

Lodging Options

Several are already staying with Andy and a co-worker of Andrew's, but if you need lodging Andy or Andrew may be able to track do some options. Cheap options include:

Transportation within Vancouver

Reaching the Enfold Systems office is quite easy once in Vancouver due to the solid mass transit options. The office is actually in North Vancouver and if you're likely to stay in Vancouver you only need to get to the SeaBus waterfront station in downtown Vancouver, which is a tourist experience in itself.
