Booking flights and getting to the Archipelagosprint
Some up-front information on how ( and when ) to get to the Archipelagosprint as painlessly as possible.
Arrival
Flying to the Archipelagosprint there are basically two options, flying to Sandefjord Torp or to Oslo Aiport Gardermoen
It is best if most attendants arrive on Sunday April 23.
The boat leaves from Tønsberg , a coastal town 100 km down the coast from Oslo. We'll gather there and ship people out to the island in groups on several trips during the day.
You will have to get from the airport to Tønsberg yourself, but we'll try to make it as simple as possible:
Flying to Sandefjord airport Torp TRF (recommended)
Torp is a small, local airport, but has frequent cheap flights to and from several European cities. Torp is close to the sprint location. Getting from Torp to the sprint is quick and simple.
From what i have been told, the last plane to Torp from Copenhagen(excellent transfer airport) arrives at Torp at 23:55
Buses from Torp to Tønsberg on Sunday 23 (the ride takes about 25 minutes)
- 11:50
- 14:50
- 15:50
- 18:00
- 19:50
- 22:00
Some people are arriving later than this. (i know at least Tomster is) Sharing a taxi is a good option, especially if there are many of you (the price for a taxi is roughly 60-70 eur, which is expensive for a single person, but decent if more people share. There are large taxi-buses available if many people arrive this late.)
Flying to Oslo airport Gardermoen OSL
Gardermoen is not as close to the location as Torp, but has better international connnections. Getting from Gardermoen to the boat for the sprint is a two hour train ride. The train station is in the airport itself.

Trains from Oslo airport Gardermoen to Tønsberg on Sunday 23 (the train goes directly to Tønsberg, through Oslo, no need to switch trains. The ride takes 2 hours and 5 minutes)

The 22:08 is the latest train that'll get you to from Gardermoen to Tønsberg that night. If you miss that one, you'll have to spend the night in Oslo.
There are also Airport-express-trains to and from Oslo every half hour or so. - If you want to visit Oslo before or after the sprint. ( http://flytoget.no/default.aspx?id=105 ) The ride is about 20 minutes.

Boats to and from the island
We'll use a local taxi-boat service with several trips during the day.
The last boat-ride will be when we have gathered everyone arriving late, most probably around 01:00 Sunday night
Departure
Planned departure day is Saturday April 29.
When planning departures, keep in mind that you will wake up on an island in the middle of the sea with a one-hour boatride to land, some transfer time, and a bus or train to your airport.
We'll arrange for a boat leaving the island before 08:00 to make sure people will at least be able to make the 09:00 trains/buses from Tønsberg. Please tell us if you believe you have to leave earlier than this (but try to avoid it)
