The Plone Symposium East 2012 (PSE12) is in its fifth year and we are very excited about some of the things we have in store for everyone. Enjoy our the beautiful college community in State College with its hotels, eateries, entertainment, and, of course, all your Ploneista friends.  This will especially be the case for those who have been here before and enjoyed the friendly company of your Plone family.

Training Days: May 19-21, 2012
Enjoy a plethora of Plone, Python and Zope goodness with some of the best trainers in the community. More on the offerings after the proposal process.

Symposium Days: May 22-23, 2012
Listen and learn from your peers in education and from the technical community. Twenty-five speaker sessions will fill your minds and hearts with Plone trick-and-tips, best practice and exemplars from your education colleagues.

Sprint Days: May 24-26, 2012
This is where your really learn and contribute to the community  Last year ,we had over sixty-five sprinters churning out code, design the 2011 Plone Conference website and developing materials for PloneEdu efforts. You are sure to enjoy the laid-back, collaborative environment focusing on sharing, developing and learning from your colleagues.

PSE12 Nights: Where you meet and greet!
Every evening there is something to do. Great restaurants, clubs, cafes and hangouts.

The World Plone Day (WPD) is an event held by Plone community around the world to promote the benefits of using Plone. Indeed, the WPD is much more than a single event, is a series of events held by companies, organizations, user groups and individuals. In four previous editions of the WPD more than 170 events were held in 36 countries around the world.

And no matter the size of the event. You can make a small speech to a group of friends, or organize a conference to a large audience. The important thing is to talk about Plone.

Important: Due to a holiday, the World Plone Day in Italy and Australia will be held on April 26.

It offers three days of talks about all aspects of professional content-management as well as trainings and sprints. Part of the event is the "Plone Hochschultagung" a meeting of all German Universities using Plone. The event targets anyone interested in professional content-management with an special focus on decisionmakers and editors. There will be talks for every skill-level, trainings for power-users and designers new to Plone as well as sprints throughout the week for developers.

As added-value there is the annual Plone Hochschultagung (a meeting of all German Universities that work with Plone) and a huge party.

    Matt Hamilton, Netsight Technical Director along with Rebecca Wilkins, Communication Executive, Belron International will be giving a talk on Global and social: a case study of the implementation of a large-scale social intranet.  

    In this talk we will show how a large, multinational organisation has overcome the common concerns relating to social media in the enterprise, including governance, loss of control and the risks of reliance on services outside the firewall. Once these concerns are mitigated, the social media model can be used to drive employee engagement and increase effective communication across the business.
