EESTEC is proud to announce this year's Plone Sauna Sprint! Like last year, this will be a week full of work being done to improve Plone, while having BBQ and sauna.

Sprint topics

  • Improve newcomers' documentation (championed by Mikko Ohtamaa, 2010 Plone Help Channel Superstar and author of Plone Developer Manual)
  • Improvements to plone.reload
    • reload automagically, no need to press the button
    • make it more robust
  • Improvements to zc.buildout
    • informative error messages
    • dry-run mode
    • roll-banks

Sponsors

We will provide accommodation and sauna for all participants. And we need help with that. These guys already stepped forward and gave us a hand:

We are still a bit short on the budget - help us! (send email to Joni Orponen, first.last@gmail.com)

Sprint Venue

For the first few days we'll be at the Tampere University of Technology then we will relocate to a lakeside cottage. With sauna. More photos on our Coactivate page.

We have the place for ourselves for 24/7 so through-the-night coding sessions are possible. The schedule of wakeups (or lack thereof) and whatnot is also intended to be relaxed and brainstorming-coding "hammer the iron when it is hot" oriented.

Internet connection will be provided by Devaus Oy and hacked together by Wyn Williams.

Bonuses

  • Sauna, every day if someone bothers to chop some wood.
  • Home brewn beer, provided for by the organizers. (Last year's Alex Limi Pale Ale and Geir Baekholt Stout were well received.)
  • T-Shirts (optional, approx. 10EUR)
  • Beer tasting (optional, approx. 10EUR)
  • Chocolate tasting (optional, approx. 20EUR)

GSoC Projects

Like last year, when Manca was improving PloneFormGen, several students that have applied to Plone's Google Summer of Code are attending the Sauna Sprint. If you would like to personally mentor and help them produce good software, here is your chance!

See you in Finland!

Don't forget to bring a towel.
