Welcome to Cordoba

Córdoba is located near the geographical center of Argentina, about 700 km (435 mi) northwest of Buenos Aires. Cordoba is the second largest city in Argentina, and has all the features of a metropolitan city. The city is 5 centuries old, it has lovely pedestrian streets, huge shopping centers, and many historical places, some of them considered World Heritage by UNESCO. The city is surrounded by valleys, formed up by three main mountain groups. It is known for the colonial buildings in the center as well as for the beautiful hills in the surroundings. The city is called La Docta because of the many universities and scientific institutes. Around 200.000 people study here, which makes the city one of those with the youngest and liveliest appearance in South America.

Python, Plone Community and Cordoba

Cordoba has a very active Python and Plone community. In 2007 the 7th Jornadas Regionales de Software Libre met most people interested on these technologies. It is in Córdoba where the Plone Cono Sur user group born in January 2007. Long established institutions, such as the National University of Cordoba uses Plone for its main site.

Conference Vision and Goals

The main goals and objectives for hosting the conference in Cordoba are:

Meet Plone users from Government, Education, NGO and Private Sector.
Strength the Plone Community from South American, socially and technically through training and sprints.
Promote Plone locally through a half-a-day Success Stories session.

The Symposium will have a great venue located on the historical downtown, the Windsor Hotel.

Registration Fees

We aim to have a registration fee of no more than USD 50. There will be a reduction on the registration fee for early birds that register before September 1st. Speakers and organizational volunteers do not pay fees. Scholarships will be available for students.
