Sprint topics
The general focus of the sprint is enterprise-level and large-scale Zope. Possible sprint topics include:
- Eggification of Zope 2.12
- Enterprise-level & high-scalable Zope issues:
- ZODB (e.g. ZODB extensions made by Haufe, ZEORaid (Gocept), Relstorage)
- Performance optimization
- Buildout:
- local caching
- local egg servers
- egg mirrors (redudant and fault-tolerant egg server infrastructure)
- Integration of GROK technology within Zope 2
- Tighter integration of interesting Zope 3 modules via Five into Zope 2 (e.g. z3c.form)

HMG is one of the leading publishers in Germany focused on publications in the field of economy, law and taxes with a strong portfolio of products (print, intranet and internet solutions). Python and Zope are key technologies within the Electronic Publishing department (internal SGML CMS, shop systems, customer portals, internal production workflows and many more). HMG has developed several hundred products on top of its iDesk platform. The iDesk platform is based on Zope and is in use on more than 100.000 customer desktops. The Electronic Publishing department consists of about 40 core developers and a lot of them are involved in some way with Zope. Haufe Mediengruppe is currently in a transition phase where new technology is being adopted. HMG has a long and outstanding experience in building cutting-edge and highly scalable solutions on top of Zope and its other frameworks.
