by Alexander Limi last modified March 23, 2004 - 04:35

What's New in Plone 2.0 - continued.

Better Internationalization (i18n) support

  • Every Product can now ship with its own translations working out-of-the-box
  • Full Unicode support
  • A lot of new languages, bringing the total up to 35 supported languages
  • Totally reworked automatic structure for maintenance of i18n files, making it easier to keep the translations up-to-date as Plone evolves.

New and Improved Stylesheets

Print
Printable page for every page, without having to create or maintain new pages or templates for this view.
Presentation
Full-screen, slideshow-oriented fashion, making any page on your site a set of presentation slides (now includes invisible text, allowing the presenter to keep notes in the page that aren't seen in the presentation). Requires a browser that supports 'media=projection' in CSS.
Handheld
Can view pages on handheld devices, such as mobile phones and PDAs.

Accessibility & Standards

  • WAI-AA and US Section 508 accessibility compliant, making Plone meet or exceed strong accessibility standards
  • Entirely validating XHTML and CSS
