Enable a user to add collections in shared folders

A user or group with contributor role ('can add' permission) given via sharing tab still cannot add a collection. Here's how to enable them to add collections.

By default a user or group with the contributor role (the 'can add' permission in the sharing tab checkboxes) still cannot add Collections.

The ability to add collections (called topics behind the scenes) is controlled by its own permission, Add portal topics, which is not by default granted to the contributor role.

To enable users with contributor role to add collections:

  1. Go to the ZMI for the site root (or whatever level you want to enable this at)
  2. Click on the security tab
  3. Scroll down to the Add portal topics permission row
  4. Check the box for Contributor role
  5. Scroll to the bottom and click the Save changes button

Users with contributor role will now be able to add collections.
