Remaining issues on the UI front for 3.0

by Alexander Limi last modified November 21, 2006 - 15:35

These are some of the things we need to approach before 3.0 ships.

Quality assurance

The following things need a review and probably some minor UI/HTML/CSS adjustments:

  • PLIPs:
    • Versioning — both CMFEditions and the Diff part need some love
    • OpenID — Needs a good way to handle the dual log-in options (probably fieldsets with tabs)
    • Workflow Control Panel — assigned to Danny
    • Sharing page — related to the workflow PLIP, this also has a mockup and needs some UI love + Ajax
    • Iterate (in-place staging) needs a minor check-up, but is almost there
    • Link/Reference integrity — needs better confirmation dialogs, but should be little effort needed, almost there
    • New visual design — Cornelis is on this, along with Limi and the designers for the logo revamp
    • Edit-in-place — needs a thorough review on the UI side, not sure what the status is functionally speaking
    • Portlets — these need a good way to select the group/location/context-sensitive settings, and a good Ajax-style UI

The PLIPs can be found in the roadmap section.

Bug fixing

Other random tidbits

  • Look into generating the name in the personal bar with JS, since you can cache pages much more aggressively if you do
  • Replace the JS Date/Time widget with something more sane (I think Joel has a simple and functional one he normally uses)
